With the country still under national lockdown because of the ongoing spread of Covid 19, more and more cancelations and postponements of sports activities and competitions by sports organizations look likely to continue. The Tsalanang games based in Braamfischerville where the host pub is situated, hosts the colourful event with various teams both local and distant, with reputable sponsors has delighted the crowds gathering at the popular dusty pitch.
After the display of an entertaining 2019 spectacle, the Tsalanang tournament management has followed the rest of the country’s sporting fraternity in canceling this year’s tournament till further notice. This one-month sporting extravaganza that features teams across provinces, was due to get under way by June this year finds its way under indefinite postponement.
In his statement, Marketing Manager Lucky Mabasa mentioned the unfortunate postponement of this year’s edition. “Due to the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown the Tsalanang Games management Solomon Leshabane and Lucky Mabasa have taken a decision to postpone the 2020 Tsalanang games scheduled for June this year in Braamfischerville, Soweto.” confirmed Mabasa.
With this year’s tournament halted, the tournament management further explained that they will keep a close eye on the developments, with the hope that the games will be hosted just after the lockdown is lifted.
