“Our sorrow is deep and bitter”

Family of the late Sanelisiwe Mfaba who was brutally Murdered allegedly by her boyfriend, have painfully reflected that their sorrow is deep and bitter. The body of Sanelisiwe, 29, was found dumped in an open space next to Dobsonville Gardens on Friday 12.

One of the eyewitnesses who discovered her body, explained to Soweto Sunrise News that what had happened to Sanelisiwe is devastating and horrific. “We were coming from a service delivery protest on Friday morning when we discovered her body, she was lying there helplessly. The first thing that came to my mind was, what took this lady’s dignity?” Added the lady.
She had been stabbed, and it is alleged that the suspect is a taxi driver. The motive for the apparent still remain unknown. Speaking in a media briefing, Sanelisiwe’s sister Xoliswa Mfaba said the boyfriend once tried to poison her sister back in 2017. “On Thursday night around 19:45 he came to fetch my sister, then later sent us a text message saying that he will bring her back on Friday morning.

It is really painful for us and that guy doesn’t deserve to be alive after what he did to my sister.” Added Xoliswa. As the scourge of femicide spread in the country, dozens of protesters led by the Female Bikers Club, Witwatersrand Taxi Association (WATA), ANC Women’s League and community members gathered outside Mfaba’s home in Zola 1 brandishing placards and singing apartheid-era struggle songs. Sanelisiwe Mfaba will be laid to rest on Saturday 20 at Newcastle in KZN.
