The Women’s Month Tennis event was celebrated at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Development Center in Jabavu, Soweto on Saturday 29 August 2020. Themed ‘Mosadi ka mask’ this Women’s month version, was highlighted by tennis expert female coaches projecting a recognition of Women in Tennis around Gauteng. The event, which was coordinated by one of the coaches, Lerato Mosenogi underscored and showcased the advancement of a girl child in the sport.
Young girls were invited and made to acknowledge that Tennis is very feminine, it’s not for males only. Trainee coach Adelaide Mogoai mentioned that, “we, as Female Tennis Coaches celebrate this day by demonstrating the talent and skill of young tennis players.” Due to Covid 19 restrictions, only six junior players and six senior players were allowed to partake in the event. Young girls were excited to occupy and play in the Tennis court thoroughly enjoying the thrill that the coaches brought about. At the end of the spectacle, refreshments were served and the girls were showered with goodie bags.
