It’s every girl’s dream to clinch the coveted Miss Teen Universe SA crown, and for Soweto born Nthando Sgudla, this could become a reality in February next year. The local born has been selected among eighteen hopefuls gunning for the Miss Teen Universe SA 2021.
The 17-year-old Pretoria High schools for girls grade 11 student, has not had an easy upbringing, which she said proved that with a push in the right direction, dedication and talent, you can overcome any circumstances.
“ Throughout my life, I have struggled with acceptance. I learned that the only opinions that matter are God’s opinion and my own opinion. Letting go of those other opinions has really empowered me to be myself and to do things that I’ve always wanted to do, such as entering beauty pageants”.
The Emdeni North princess was previously crowned the Miss SA Teen title in 2019 and Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa 2020 2nd princess.
“Beside beauty pageants, I have ventured into modeling. I am the brand ambassador of Tammy Taylor Nails South Africa and Bob Cuts Hair Salon. I have worked with brands such as: Romero International, Stronger Sweden, The Box Fashion, Freequency Footwear, Feel Good & Co. and Gerrit Pienaar Designs. I also play for the first teams of the netball and soccer teams at my school. Most importantly, I am a youth leader at my church CRC”.
Ntando is a professional model who has appeared in numerous glossy magazine spreads-but she is now one step closer to living her dream of carrying the coveted Miss Teen Universe SA title. Her future aspirations include obtaining a BCom degree and battling for the country’s most desirable crown, Miss South Africa.
For this particular grooming, the finalists will undergo an intense and vigorous training program to condition their physiques to meet the body specification standards for the Miss Teen Universe SA. They will also embark on a boot camp where they will be inducted on basic etiquette of a beauty queen, the catwalk on the ramp, smile and posture-all in preparation for the grand finale. Part of the finalists journey ahead of the finale include making charitable contributions to the communities around Gauteng.
The grand finale will be held at the Coastlands Hotel in Durban on February 27 2021.
