The Minister of Transport, Mr Fikile Mbalula wishes to thank road users for the enthusiasm with which they received the Department of Transport’s ‘Hoot For Life’ Road Safety Awareness Campaign.
Joined by Provincial and Municipal law enforcement officers, the Minister engaged South Africans at different stops en route from Soweto to Tshwane.
Minister Mbalula called on members of the public to join in on the awareness campaign and blow their vehicle horns or ‘Hoot For Life’ at 12:00 Midday, from today (17 December 2020) until the 31st of December 2020.
By hooting at Midday, South Africans will show their support for road safety initiatives and encourage responsible driving.
This campaign forms part of the intensified 365-Days Arrive Alive 24/7 “Waya-Waya” National Road Safety Campaign.
Amongst the main pillars of the intensified Road Safety campaign for the Festive Season period are:
· No drinking and driving
· Always buckling up
· Promotion of daytime driving
· Vehicle roadworthiness· Pedestrian visibility
