Tourists Lured to City of Gold

In an impressive way to lure tourists and welcome an influx of thousands of visitors on the province’s shores, the City of Johannesburg’s member of the Mayoral committee and (MMC) for Economic Development, Councilor Lawrence Khoza recently launched the festive season tourism activities as part of the #welcome2joburg – A city reimagined campaign at Sakhumzi restaurant in Vilakazi street.

Speaking at the launch in soweto on Monday December 15, Khoza said the township provide a unique tourism experience, ranging from township cuisine, to cultural and historic sites.
“Covid-19 has painted a gloomy picture in all activities and most of the people are still reluctant to go out and explore, however people can have quite a good time, under safe conditions”, added Khoza. He further mentioned that a number of activities and events have been lined up to ensure that tourists and visitors have a fulfilling and rewarding stay in the province.
Johannesburg remains an attractive destination for locals and visitors to explore, the city’s diverse wealth of historical sites, outdoor activities, lifestyle experience, vast variety of world class business facilities and infrastructure that observe precautionary measures in adherence to covid-19 safety protocols.

The celebration brought the spirit of festive to the township, with performance of well-loved flash mob dance, and a host other performers. Visitors can enjoy a variety of promotions and specials through the campaign, including exclusive accommodation packages, food and beverages promotions, and an array of activities.
