During Christmas Eve and Christmas the police continued to make sure the
community is safe. Visible Policing members together with Station Community Forum (CPF) members and Johannesburg Metro Police had a joint operation.
The operation started with vehicle check point were vehicles were stopped and searched, looking for drugs, stolen property and stolen vehicles.
During the operation one illegal shebeen was closed. 200 people were stopped and searched and 90 vehicles were also searched.
Suspects were arrested for different criminal offences such as possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of stolen property, assault common, domestic violence cases and driving under the influence of liquor.
All suspects arrested are expected to appear in Protea Magistrate court soon.
“It is our mandate to make sure we protect and keep our community safe, we appeal to the community to work together with the police to fight crime and gender base violence , we have zero tolerance towards law transgressions, said the Station Commander Brigadier Reckson Shiburi.”
