The concept of Ubuntu dictates that umuntu ngumutu ngabantu. Motho ke motho ka batho. This concept subscribes to the processualism of ubuntu. In the African…
Despondency seems to be everywhere the numbers have turned into faces, those close to us or to the people we know are dying, death is on everyone’s lips, it seems as though we are plunged into a bottomless pit and there is no solution, darkness is all around, the world our source of sustenance is caving in on us and almost feels constricted, there is no escape everywhere we go we hear of it.
Lack has crept into our homes like a thief in the night, nothing seems to work, fathers go out in search of jobs and come back with heavy faces and heavy sighs. Governments are frantically seeking solutions but their efforts seem futile, no one seems to know anything, the world is brought to a standstill, and education which is our beacon of light has eluded us. Educational schools of thought cannot be applied, educational specialists remain quiet as there are no deliberations from them. Science which most believe to be the absolute truth has failed to offer tangible solutions, everyone is wondering who is next?
We are inundated with a myriad of contradictory information and we do not know what or who to believe. Interactions – the very thing that make us human have been taken away from us and we are unable to comfort each other even during times of bereavement. Our ability to express ourselves freely has been inhibited and there are limitations everywhere life has become as robotic as the science fiction movie, the only difference is that the current situation is not scripted and there are no second takes, those who are lost are gone forever and never to return. Our loved ones, mothers, daughters, fathers, sister… all gone because of what is believed to be a man-made virus.
Covid-19 a colony of viruses which has spread to more than 100 countries, these being referred to microscopic particles have brought societal towers such as world economies, educational systems to a standstill, have reeked havoc in the health fraternity.
It might seem unbearable and even hopeless, but there is hope and His name is Jesus, He is, He was and always will be. When He comes in, waters loosen their fluidity and are turned into pillars, He is able to rebuke storms, death to Him is like sleep as He is able to raise the dead, at the mention of His name demons tremble. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, and He promised never to leave us nor forsake us.
In the book of Job He comes as a whirlwind and confront Job who is busy deliberating with his friends. ‘Tell me if you have understanding who determines the level thereof, on what is its foundation fastened?’ Job 38:4 this is God speaking to Job. He declares Himself to be the one who determines our level of understanding, the only true solution. He has created it all, and He knows how everything operates, He wants us to come to Him for solutions.
Christ is the only one who can eradicate Covid-19 and the effects that come with it, He is the only one who can bring back the flavour that seems to have been lost in our lives, He is the restorer and he can re-write the script of our lives, He is the light in the darkness and says, “If my people who have been called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven. I will forgive their sins and I will heal their land.” We really need God, we need Him to heal our land and rid it of this horrible virus. Let us turn to him, let each household prostrate and look to him who is more than able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can think or imagine.
