Visit Mabena now an accomplished Author, Actor, Motivational Speaker, Poet and budding musician is a testament of the phrase “If you can dream it you can have it”. From a small town, Dennilton in Limpopo Vusi with his accomplishments in less than two years of being an Award Winning Author is a living proof that self-reliance, dedication and tunnel vision is the mother of success.

Vusi began his journey in poetry, motivation, writing and acting when he became a pupil of Living Waters Private School. Whilst a Grade 10 scholar he acquired a certificate of merit for Poetry. Ever since then he’s never ceased to grow himself in the art and practice words, creativity communication performance and motivation, hosting motivational gatherings to youth and school going children in his home town before moving to Gauteng to develop his talent and career as a performing artist. According to Vusi the School Principal of Matahiepe Combined School, where he had been tutored from Grade One to Grade Nine, recommended to his mother that she enrols him to a conducive school for his artistic development.

Today he is an Award Winning Author with International South African Poetry Awards 2020 for his second book titled “Tears of A Crawling Hustler and Dreamer”. The book is a collection motivational of short stories.
Currently his fourth and latest book thus far “My Warrior” has been nominated for the Makoya Entertainment Awards 2021. Voting lines for the public remain open to SMS MEA002 to 33903 for his chance to win. SMS cost R1.50 per SMS.
Before beginning to write the books, Vusi was a volunteer columnist on motivational pieces with Mapepeza Publication and prior to that had entered writing and poetry competitions with Vukuzenzele and Daily Sun Publications.

In April 2021, Ikwekwezi FM had invited him to participate on their book review column called Vusi Vula Incwadi.
He’s also an actor with Gomora currently playing the male nurse. He has also appeared in Rhythm City, Generations; The Legacy, 7de Laan, The Queen, The River, Skeem-Saam, uMoja Love, Isibaya and Isidingo. He advises that he has managed to fund his four motivational publications from his earnings thus far, three of which are self published through Asante Publishers including “My Warrior”. He advises that the book was inspired by the desire to pay homepage to his supporters chief amongst them God as he is also a born again Christian.

His overriding message in his books is that of wisdom, perseverance and self-help. His first book “Tears of Life” published with Faithland Publishers had motivational themes with all letters of the alphabet from A-Z including a poem on the motivation and inspiration to him that is the Teaching profession. The book was also featured on SABC, Morning Live.

Amongst his other list of role models Vusi named Dr Rebbeca Malope, the Queen of Gospel; Actress, Sindi Dlathu; DJ Sbu; Poets; Ntsiki Mazwai, Lebo Mashile and Mzwakhe Mbuli. It is his dream to continue to produce more books, to be in the league of motivational public speakers such as Vusi Thembekwayo and to encourage the youth and members of the community in general to never give but to always work hard for the success of their dreams. His first published poem in 2013 was titled “Don’t Give Up”. He states that his motto is “kungcono uHlulek’ uzamile” than to just give up from discouragement by challenges. To help himself achieve his goals he’s studying part-time since 2019 three year course in Acting and Production at the Johannesburg Theatre.
