In a continued drive to restore law and order and ensure compliance of Level 4 lockdown regulations, Kagiso Police in the West Rand district are determined to squeeze crime to nothing.
As they consistently conduct disruptive patrols in all sectors throughout the day, their focus is on tracing potential perpetrators behind the looting of businesses during the previous week’s unrest, and to make their presence felt.
Amongst illegal activities to be addressed is the brewing of concoction beer, selling and transporting of alcohol by either legal and illegal liquor outlets and possession of suspected stolen or looted goods.
“The brewing of concoction is common in many residential areas, especially in informal settlements. It also contributes to domestic violence like any other forms of intoxicating water and can also be a serious health hazard. We urge loyal residents to report any illegal activities in their areas,” mentioned Kagiso SAPS station commander Brigadier Themba Maduna.
A 53year old woman was arrested at Soul city informal settlement on the 20th July for brewing and dealing in concoction.
During the ransacking of the suspect’s shack, the police found two 2 heavy drums full of concoction. Tons of home brewed beer were confiscated for destruction.
The suspect will appear briefly in the Kagiso magistrates court facing charges of dealing in concoction.
