The month of August is specially dedicated to honour women for their role in our society as well as to the emancipation of their human rights and dignity.
On the day of 30 August 2021 from 09:00 to 13:00 our women in blue together with their traffic counterparts and safety patrollers needed to stamp their authority whilst bringing perpetrators to book. Under the command of Kagiso station commander Brigadier Themba Maduna and their operational commander, our women officers needed to stamp their authority like they did when they marched to the Union buildings against pass laws during apartheid era.
The operation staged a road roadblock on R41 at the main busy intersection between Kagiso and Azaadville.
About 39 traffic fines to the value of R41 800 were issued. A further eleven (11) undocumented persons were arrested, 4x illegal miners arrested for possession of gold bearing material, a vehicle used in the commission of illegal activities was also confiscated and additional three (3) bags of gold bearing material.
All arrested suspects will appear briefly in the Kagiso magistrates court soon.
The Westrand District Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana praised all women who took part in the operation that not only brought successes, but their authority in their communities. “You finished your month in a proper manner and style. I m proud of what you did today”.
