The countdown to one of the highly anticipated events of this year, the Miss Soweto 2021 grand finale has begun! The township of dreams, Soweto, is once again set to fulfil dreams. Mark your calendars; the coronation ceremony will take place on the 27th of November at the trio-venue Soweto Theatre.
After receiving a record-breaking number of entries, followed by a stringent process of preparation, the number of hopefuls of the Miss Soweto 2021 pageant has now been whittled down to the top 40.
In a statement to the media, event organizers echoed the sentiments. “Top 40 finalists need your support and votes to make it to that crucial top 20 stage where they will receive the very best assistance, and guidance from various experts to help them prepare for the finals this November.” With training from distinguished experts of the industry, the semi-finalists are currently preparing to sparkle on their special night.
The Miss Soweto event will be co-hosted by the effervescent Thabiso Makhubela, presenter of the Expresso Show on SABC3 and the evergreen Refiloe Motsei of Jozi FM. Returning to judge the pageant are broadcaster, businesswoman and 2002 Miss South Africa runner-up, Bridget Masinga, and former fashion editor and blogger, Grace Mantjiu, amongst a host of distinguished judges.
At the grand finale night, the finalists will go through the gruelling three rounds; swimsuit competition, interview and evening gown. After these rounds, the jury crowns the winner at the coronation ceremony. Thobile Steyn will crown her successor at the end of the four hour program.
